Job Description
The Business Development Executive is responsible for initiating and developing business opportunities with new and existing customers. This role manages an individual portfolio while collaborating with internal teams, prospecting for leads, handling referrals, and engaging in business-to-business selling to generate both inside and outside transactional sales.
Activities

Manage all strategic and operational marketing, sales, and customer relationship activities.

Provide market feedback to company leadership regarding competitor offerings, customer needs, and product development opportunities.

Take ownership of the sales function and ensure delivery of ambitious revenue and profit growth targets.

Develop a pipeline of qualified prospects, understand their business requirements, and adopt a consultative sales approach.

Plan and coordinate the implementation of business plans and strategies to penetrate new markets.

Maintain and strengthen agent relationships in compliance with company policies.

Monitor claims, resolve issues, and improve customer satisfaction.

Analyze and enhance profitability and efficiency within the assigned customer portfolio.

Cooperate with internal departments and other FLS offices/countries for smooth business operations.

Deliver high levels of customer service, particularly for key accounts.

Develop existing services and introduce new products and traffic lanes.

Manage costs and revenues for the assigned portfolio, ensuring compliance with corporate structure, values, integrity, and legal/regulatory requirements.

Prepare reports and communicate business performance updates to management.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Reporting Lines: Reports to Sales Manager / Managing Director

Degree of Autonomy: Works under minimal supervision with high responsibility for achieving sales targets.

Resources/Tools: Laptop, mobile phone, CRM and business applications

Budget Available: As assigned for business development activities

Special Working Conditions: Frequent client visits and occasional business trips
Skills / Career Stepping Stones / Performance Criteria
Technical
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Business Development roles within the logistics industry.

Strong commercial background in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, and supply chain services (including cargo management).

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Managerial, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Financial acumen: ability to perform calculations, create and manage budgets.

Skilled negotiator with strong territory and time management expertise.

Experience in conducting presentations and client interviews to develop opportunities.
